Hello everyone!
I am in the process of working on my clinical dissertation for my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and am having a difficult time recruiting male participants, currently struggling with body image concerns and disordered eating.
Through my research and clinical experience, I have learned there is a large gap in the male ED literature. While there is some literature available, the majority of articles out there focus exclusively on body image and weight. Through working with the ED population, I have come to believe that stress can be a huge precipitant to eating disorder behavior. Also, I believe not having enough coping skills or using certain types of coping skills can often play a role in the perpetuation of eating disorders. At this time, I am interested in studying the relationship between disordered eating, coping processes, and perceived stress in the male ED population. Identifying this type of relationship could be a positive contribution to the current literature on eating disorders in males and may potentially impact how others approach therapy when working with males with eating disorders in the future.
If you are a male and currently struggle with disordered eating or body image concerns or have a friend or family member who is male and struggling with similar issues, I hope you, your friend, or family member will take a moment to complete this survey. Participants must be male and between the age of 18 and 70 years old to be eligible.
To access the survey, please visit the link below. The survey will be delivered to your private e-mail shortly after (within 24 hours)you submit your e-mail address.
Your time and help with this research project is greatly appreciated!

Ironically most males that have this disorder can be found at any local GYM. The difficult part is they will not admit to this disorder.
