Ive been thinking lately a lot, ts kind of a different problem if you will. Im currently going threw treatment day program. They prescribed me an SSRI but I have an addiction to diet pills I quit taking the SSRI and now take the diet pills again but sometimes I switch to what I take just depends on the workout I do that morning. I feel like I have too or I will just get fat from the SSRI as its noted as a side effect of weight gain. Just has been on my mind lately if I should altogether stop the SSRI.

I had the exact same fear when my doctor first mentioned starting me on an anti-depressant. It is scary to start taking something with the risk of "gaining weight" for people struggling with eating, but that is only a possible side effect and is minimal. Once I started taking the medication, I felt so much less anxiety and worry over not just food and weight, but life in general. They are made to restore the chemical imbalances in our brain caused by insufficient nutrients, and aren't meant to be a life long medication. I, too, was scared to start taking it, but I can honestly tell you that it changed my outlook on a lot of things and made the start to my recovery a lot easier than just doing it on my own. Maintaining a healthy eating plan and appropriate diet can help you stay healthy while taking the medication. I hope that I have been able to help you in some way and I hope you are able to make the decision that is right for you! Good lucks with your journey and stay strong!
