Proverbs 30:31

Hopefully this will not offend anyone. Hopefully this will make us THINK..if u are not a Christian..it still apllies to you for it is God's word, and His Word is for everyone, no matter, race, religon, circumstances. However..this verse haunts me, and one of my fav verses. For Adriana, she's 7. I'm her mother,I'm her role model. So to get over this disease is crucial. Especially when kids, ones that watch everything you do, and mimic everything you do. As a mom, I take that responibility very seriously. So I am leaving this verse as a goal not only to myself, and what I teach my daughter..but hope it"ll be a help to us ALL. Its the inner beauty, not the outer beauty that counts. Not what "Hollywood" preaches, and we see. But my priority lately has been..Him..God/my Lord. What does HE think, for that is all what truly matters I am finding. Please EVErYONE..I want to know your thoughts too..if this verse helps, as it does for me, a goal. The whole chpater is beautiful. King Lemuel's mom, telling her son, what u should be looking for in a wife.
"Favour is decietful, and beauty is vain: BUT..a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised." Proverbs 31:30.

Re: Proverbs 30:31

One of my all time favorite verses, I also love 1 Peter 3:3-4 "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."

Re: Proverbs 30:31

If God is for us then Who can be against us.WOW Good News.Romans 8:31-37
The awesome thing about being a christian is that the same power that raised Christ from the dead dwells inside of us.Romans 8:11 He has given us all the power we need to overcome ED or any obstacle because of what Jesus did on the cross.(Luke 10:19)If God who didnt spare His own son ,but gave Him up for us all, won't He also with Him FREELY give us all things?Romans 8:35 saysWho shall seperate us from the love of God....troubles,stress,the economy or ED....yet in all these things we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS through Him that LOVES US.GOD's AMAZING LOVE NEVER FAILS.Just soak on that all day long.HE LOVES US SO MUCH.
God bless,

Frosty

Re: Proverbs 30:31

I heard this the other day.  In the Bible, the LORD's name is "I AM."  His name means "present."  When I get lost in dark thoughts of the past, or escape into an imaginary future, I miss Him.   I leave the One who forgives my past and gives me security so I don't have to worry about the future.  We say "Give us this day our daily bread," because we need his grace each day.  It's never given in advance; it's only given in the moment, when we ask for it.  If we remain with Him and we ask, He is faithful to give us the strength to go through the most painful and difficult times.

Re: Proverbs 30:31

"Casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you"  (1 Peter 5:7)

What a relief this verse is.  God cares for us.  Don't get that confused with "God cares about us."  Of course, he does care about us, but more importantly he cares in our place.  All our anxiety, all our ambitions, all our failures and hopes rest on Him, while we fix our eyes on Him.  Aren't these our Lord's words to Martha, who was worried about serving while Mary was sitting at Jesus' feet?  Mary was doing the right thing by worrying about nothing but Jesus.

Sometimes casting my care on the Lord is hard for me.  It requires me to surrender my will.  The verse before "cast your care" tells us to "Humble yourselves…"  Why?  Because worry is prideful.  We think we know how our lives should turn out and nothing better get in our way.  We think we should make the plans and God should obey.

Oh, but what relief there is in letting God order our lives.  What joy in loving God and knowing that He works all things for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose (Rom. 8:28).  Does that mean nothing bad will ever happen to us?  Will we never be frustrated?  By no means.  But we can hold firm to his promise that whatever happens, God is using it to make us more like Him.  And nothing prevents His will.

Re: Proverbs 30:31

I see the posts from those who have a strong faith in God. I remember when I was in an endless pursuit of being thin, I would thank God at the end of every day for any additional weight I had lost.  I actually thought God was working with me in this never-ending desire to lose weight.

This was before anorexia nervosa, bulimia, or the combined letters ED came into the public consciousness.  I surely didn't know what I was going through at the time.  I just thought I had found the true meaning of happiness until I discovered my endless dieting had put me on a path that was leading me to an early death...

It was actually God who opened my eyes to my destructive behavior and provided me a detour off of that dead-end road and led me to a road to survival.

It's great that you posted bible verses here because this happens not very often. One of my favorite verse is this:  I don’t want your sacrifices. I want you to know God ; that’s more important than burnt offerings. – Hosea 6:6
Have a great time everyone!

God words is always powerful..each time you open your bible it is God open his mouth and speak...open the eyes of your heart to see Him, the provider of all things. Sow the seed of his words to your young child is the right choice and this is the best gift that you give. The word of God is like a light your my feet , it shines on the path that you walk so that you will not fall. Amen.

Re: Proverbs 30:31

That's a good one sis, i just had a discussion with my friend about how christians and the muslims are actually brothers and shouldn't be fighting, because we both are the seeds of Abraham, abraham had two sons, Ishmael and Isaac, Ishmael = muslims, Isaac = christians, lets not fight anymore we actually are all brothers. cheers

Re: Proverbs 30:31

I have read all your post here and I become inspired on all bible verse. Actually the word of God is the spiritual food of every Christian. Let me share to you one of my favorite verse in the Bible and this from Ro.12:3 "Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgement in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you."

Re: Proverbs 30:31

One of the things I think about alot is how much my anorexia conflicts against my faith. This past summer God saved me from all of my sins, and gave me new life in him. One song that really speaks to me says, "I saw a flash of light and I heard the sound of a voice like thunder shake the ground. It was the first time I remember ever feeling my heart beat." God comng into my life was nothing like that from the outside, but the lyrics, 'The first time I remember ever feeling my heart beat" relate so much to how I feel. This may or may not make sense, but God made me an entirely different person. I think of how I was before God saved me, and I don't know how I lived. It seems almost like a dream. This coming year I will be the leader of my school's FCA (Fellowsip of Christian Atheletes, although you don't have to be an athelete) program, and a Peer Leader in the youh group at my Church. But through all of this I struggle with nanorexia, and I seem to never be satisfied with myself as God would want me too. I know that this disease is keeping me from doing what I want to do in life, and obstructing my realationship with God. Or maybe is it bringing me closer? My Dad says that it's insulting to God that I can't accept that He made me exactly how I am, and that I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I know that the fingerprints of God are on everyone, but for some reason I always feel like they're not enough for me.
One quote that I love is: "May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinit possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love. It is there for each and every one of us."
I know that God will help me get through this, and I know that he is always by my side, and that he carries me through the tough times.
"Keep looking for the Blinding Light, Keep looking for the reason why, Keep looking for the sun to shine, to take me higher and higher. All my light, I've been living in the darkest night, still looking for the sun to rise, to take me higher and higher." Switchfoot, Blinding Light
Love you all and I will be praying for all of you and God is always with you.

Esther,

I think it's wonderful that you share your faith and view your role as a mother as a model to your daughter. My how people might view their choices if they would.

BornTHisWAyMe,

Thank you for sharing your inspiring story. Isn't it amazing how good God is to help us in our times of need to bring us closer to him!

Re: Proverbs 30:31

Your heart to set example to your child is very inspiring, Esther. The best thing that we could give to our children is constant PRAYER. I am an answer to a prayer, guess my mom prayed a lot for me, and she has set example to me too. I thank God for my mom, she did not give up on me, now its my turn to not give up on my little angel. I am what i am now because i am a product of prayer.
